50KG Steel Cylinder Liquid Ammonia
Liquid ammonia, a colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor, is a hazardous chemical widely used in fields such as chemical fertilizers, defense industry, refrigeration and freezing, metal processing, laboratory research, and new energy
Product Details

【Product name】Liquid ammonia, also known as anhydrous ammonia.

【Product overview】Liquid ammonia belongs to the second category of hazardous chemicals (compressed gas and liquefied gas).

【Product characteristics】
Colorless liquid with a strong pungent odor. Boiling point -33.4 ℃, melting point -77.7 ℃, self ignition point 651.11 ℃. Density 0.603 g/mL (25 ℃), highly soluble in water, and the aqueous solution is alkaline (pH ≈ 11.7). ‌

Highly corrosive, contact with skin or mucous membranes can cause serious damage. The explosion limit when mixed with air is 16% to 25%, and it may cause an explosion when exposed to open flames or high temperatures. It is strictly prohibited to come into contact with halogens, strong oxidants, acids, and other substances.

(Note: Some parameters may have slight differences due to different testing conditions.)

【Application area 】

Chemical fertilizers: Liquid ammonia is an important raw material for producing nitric acid, urea, and other chemical fertilizers. It can also be used as a raw material for pharmaceuticals and pesticides.

Defense industry: Liquid ammonia is a propellant used in the manufacture of rockets and missiles.

Refrigeration and freezing: commonly used as refrigerants, widely applied in industrial and commercial air conditioning, frozen food processing and storage, and other fields.

Metal processing: used for cleaning metal surfaces, removing oxides and grease, and protecting metal surfaces from corrosion. It can also be used as a reducing agent for protective gas and oxidized carbon in welding processes.

Laboratory research: used for temperature control, compound preparation, providing reducing agents and nitrogen sources, etc.

In the field of new energy, liquid ammonia, as a carrier of hydrogen, has energy storage properties and great potential for development in power fuels, clean electricity, and hydrogen storage carriers.

【Usage and precautions】

Check whether the storage tanks, pipelines, valves and other equipment are in good condition to ensure no leakage or damage.

Confirm that the place where liquid ammonia is used is well ventilated, equipped with ammonia gas detectors and calibrated normally.

Operators are required to wear ammonia resistant gloves, masks, goggles, and corrosion-resistant work clothes.

Emergency Management:

1. Leakage disposal: Immediately cut off the leakage source, dilute the ammonia gas with spray water, and prohibit open flames or electric sparks.

2. First aid for personnel

Inhalation poisoning: Quickly transfer to fresh air, administer oxygen, and seek medical attention;

Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Frostbite: Soak the affected area in warm water (38-42 ℃) to avoid friction

【Packaging And Storage】

Packaging specifications: Tank truck, 20KG steel cylinder, 50KG steel cylinder, 100KG steel cylinder, 200KG steel cylinder, 400KG steel cylinder

Liquid ammonia should be stored in a cool, dry, and ventilated dedicated storage tank, with a filling capacity of no more than 80% of the rated capacity. Overfilling is strictly prohibited to prevent a sudden increase in pressure due to temperature rise (approximately 1.32-1.80MPa per liter of temperature at 1 ℃).

When filling, it is necessary to operate slowly to avoid severe vibration or impact, and the filling pressure should be controlled at 0.7-0.8MPa.

Use pressure resistant steel cylinders or storage tanks for transportation to ensure sealing, and avoid high temperatures and direct sunlight during transportation. ‌
